Recently, it has been circulated in media that Malaysia is now facing the minor El Nino phenomenon that leads to hot weather where the temperature can reach as high as 38°C in several parts of Malaysia. This phenomena is predicted to last until May 2019.
Therefore, as a preparation to cope with the heatwave so that you can maintain to be healthy and active, here we share 4 tips to cope with heat wave:
1. Drink water regularly.
One of the most common effect during heatwave is dehydration. Dehydration can make people feeling tired easily. To stay fit and hydrated during heatwave, one should drink water regularly for at keast 2-3 liters every day. Always keep a water bottle with you wherever you go so that you can always drink when you need it.
2. Lessen outdoor activity.
To avoid from the effect of heat wave such as sunburn, stay indoor as much as possible. It is advisable to stay in the air-conditioned location in your house and go to places with air-condition instead of going to outdoor places. This minimizes the chances of you getting expose with direct heat.
3. Keep the room cool.
When it gets hotter, shut the windows and pull down the window shades or pull the curtain so that less sunlight and heat coming into your room.
4. Avoid alcohol and caffeine.
During heatwave, it is advisable that people to avoid consuming alcoholic beverages and caffeine, as both of these drinks are diuretics and fasten the dehydration.
